By appropriate social and environmental management, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) became an investor, ensuring the implementation of the Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability which aim to prevent, mitigate and manage different risks of Puerto Bahía, in order to become a sustainable port terminal.
As one of our investors, IFC demands the application of these standards, in which we manage to improve the opportunities of development.
Performance Standard 1: establishes the importance of a good social and environmental management, with the support and communication between Puerto Bahia, its employees and neighboring communities.
Performance Standard 2: Wants the port to be built through the creation of employment, protection of the rights of employees and ensure safe and healthy working conditional.
Performance Standard 3: Seeks to avoid any contamination, to promote the proper use of natural resources and reduce emissions of climate change in Puerto Bahia.
Performance Standard 4: We guarantee that the operations of Puerto Bahía do not generate Risks for the health of our communities.
Performance Standard 5: We are committed to the conservation of biodiversity through practices that protect nature, mangroves and water bodies surrounding our facilities.
Performance Standard 6: We recognize Pasacaballos, Ararca, Santa Ana, Bocachica, Barú and Caño Del Oro as ethnic communities in which we have developed prior consultation processes, respecting their different cultures and contributing to sustainable development.
Performance Standard 7: Puerto Bahía guarantee the protection of cultural and archaeological patrimony.
